Beyoncé Kicked Off the Cowboy Carter Tour With Two Surprise Guests—Daughters Blue Ivy and Rumi Carter

It seems Beyoncé had a little extra help kicking off her Cowboy Carter tour on April 28. This time, not one but both of Beyoncé’s daughters joined her on stage. (Her son, Sir, seems to have opted out.)

At this point Blue Ivy Carter, age 13, is basically a mainstay on any stage where her mom is performing, but the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles was the first time seven-year-old Rumi made a special appearance at one of her mother’s shows. Obviously, I have no actual idea how any of this came about, but I imagine Rumi must have really wanted to be just like her cool big sister.

Per USA Today, Blue took the stage for “America Has a Problem,” where she led the backup dancers from the top of the stage. Later, Rumi appeared on stage for the song “Protector,” of course, which features her voice asking, “Mom, can I hear the lullaby please?” at the top of the track. Both sisters and their mother stood on stage together at the end of the song, while a montage of Carter family photos played on the screen behind them. Fan videos on social media show Rumi, dressed in a sparkly gold dress and cowboy boots, holding Bey’s hand, grinning, jumping, and waving to the crowd. That alone has to be worth the price of admission, right? Clearly, the little girl was having the time of her life and who wouldn’t be entertained by that?

While the experience was a first for Rumi, it’s definitely not the first time Beyoncé has shared the stage with a daughter. Blue Ivy performed with her mom during the Renaissance tour in 2023 and again during the NFL halftime show on Christmas Day 2024. Blue also got to join her mom on the red carpet for the premiere of Mufasa, and she’s gotten to attend more than one Grammys ceremony.

If she was my big sister, I’d wanna be just like her too.
