Ryan Reynolds Took Over an It Ends With Us Interview, and Of Course It Went Right Off the Rails

If you think you know where this interview is going…no, you don’t. Deadpool & Wolverine star Ryan Reynolds crashed a press day (or, okay, staged a press day) for his wife Blake Lively’s upcoming tearjerker It Ends With Us, grilling her co-star Brandon Sklenar about, well, we’re not even sure.

In the clip, Reynolds starts in on the typical “whatcha doin’ with my wife!” shtick, referring to Lively as “Mrs. Reynolds,” but the conversation quickly moves on from that topic, and off the rails, if there were any rails to begin with. As Sklenar struggles to put together his sentences, Reynolds jokes that he’s been on meth for days. And then his mom asks Sklenar to be Ryan’s new dad. And then Hugh Jackman shows up, accuses Sklenar of trying to replace him as Ryan’s best friend, admits to manslaughter, and the conclusion is that everyone just loves Sklenar and thinks he’s dreamy.

What does this have to do with It Ends With Us, a movie about a florist breaking the cycle of abuse? Your guess is as good as mine. But it’s very entertaining to watch.

In all seriousness, it seems like Sklenar and Lively got along really well on set. He praised her as an actor and a person when he was interviewed by a real interviewer.

And here’s a fun fact: Rob Simonsen is a film score composer who worked on both Deadpool & Wolverine and It Ends With Us. Not only that, but he also scored the Ryan Reynolds vehicle The Adam Project and The Age of Adaline, which stars Blake Lively and which I have seen weirdly a lot of times. The Reynolds-Lively Cinematic Universe!
