After attending the first two Chiefs games of the season, Taylor Swift appeared to skip Travis Kelce’s second away game in a row.
While Swift did not watch the Chiefs defeat the Atlanta Falcons in person on September 22, many fans hoped she’d attend their next face-off against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 29. So far, however, Swift has not been spotted by the crowd at LA’s SoFi Stadium.
“Going to the game in Atlanta wasn’t possible because she had scheduled time with some friends, like Gigi Hadid, whom she spent time with on the weekend, and other friends that she hasn’t seen in a while,” an unnamed source previously told the U.S. Sun of the pop star’s absense in Atlanta. “She wanted to hang out with them before returning to the tour soon. But she plans to return to the next game to support Travis.”
Despite the Chiefs’ early win-streak, Travis Kelce has been facing criticism for his personal impact on the field, with the tight-end admitting he “played like trash” in a recent game. Of course, many NFL fans have started blaming Taylor Swift for “distracting” the 34-year-old football player, just like they did last season. I think I’ve seen this film before…and it ended in a Super Bowl victory.
You know who doesn’t think Kelce is distracted? Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid. “I know people are saying that he’s old or that he has distractions, but defenses don’t think that,” Reid said during a press conference on September 25, per Fox News. “Trav is fine. He just keeps being Trav. He works his tail off. He hasn’t lost a step. He’s not distracted.”
Obviously, there are many reasons Taylor Swift may have missed this game that have nothing to do with this discourse. Considering the Eras Tour picks back up in Miami on October 18, she’s likely focussed on rehearsals and avoiding any unnecessary flights. With that said, the next Chiefs game takes place at Arrowhead Stadium on October 7.
Hopefully, Taylor Swift will be there to distract me from the unsolicited opinions of “dads, Brads, and Chads.”
