Taylor Swift Makes the Case For Breaking Traditional Wedding Dress Codes With Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift wore a white-adjacent dress to a friend’s wedding and she looked great doing it.

On September 7, Swift and Travis Kelce were photographed leaving the wedding of model Karen Elson and Electric Lady Studios owner Lee Foster in New York City. The pair were giving modern Sandy Olsson and Danny Zucko vibes, with Swift dressed in a cream linen Zimmerman dress with scalloped edges and a floral skirt design, rekindling her love affair with classic red lipstick after a brief hiatus, and finishing off the look with a sleek bun.

Swift even added a touch of “something blue” with her Vivienne Westwood purse (which is currently on sale in white). Meanwhile, Kelce had his own hair slicked back and was dressed in a black Vivienne Westwood short-sleeved cardigan, trousers, and loafers without visible socks. Oh those summer nights, indeed.

Taylor Swift wasn’t the only guest whose dress would likely fail the notoriously strict TikTok comments test. Lana Del Rey was spotted in a pale blue halter dress with floral embroidery that photographs pretty close to white next to boyfriend Jeremy Dufrene darker suit. While one might guess the newlyweds put out a pastel dress code, Karlie Kloss’s wine red silk dress and Travis Kelce’s all-black look seem to disprove that theory.

In all likelihood, Karen Elson was simply unconcerned with traditional wedding etiquette—after all, it would be impossible to outshine the bride’s custom Valentino silk tulle gown, which can be seen here. Even her daughter Scarlett wore an ivory slip dress to serve as the event’s only bridesmaid.

Feel free to take this as a sign to ditch the rulebook and trust your guests to wear what they want to your wedding. Or don’t, it’s your day!
